How to install OneUI Beta in Samsung Galaxy S9, S9 plus and Note 9 without data loss

One UI

Samsung announced earlier that Samsung will upgrade its old and laggy Samsung experience to the whole new One UI which is based on Android Pie.  As we seen here, One UI will be available only for Samsung Galaxy S9, S9 plus, Note 9 , S8 , S8 plus and Note 8. Earlier Samsung has opened One UI Beta registrations for S9 and S9 plus in US, Germany and few other countries. Surprisingly Note 9 has got One UI BETA registrations in India before S9 and S9 plus. Now let us see how to install One UI Beta in Samsung Galaxy S9 , S9 plus and Note 9.

Note:

Please note that installation procedure is common for all three devices,  Just the Files which you want to install is different

Prerequisites

  • Your device should have the latest November security patch installed
  • This process is simple which doesn’t need Odin and your data won’t be last. But it’s always safe to have the complete backup of your device
  • Make sure your device battery is more than 75%
  • A micro SD card is required, if you do not have one you need to install ADB and fast boot. Follow this simple guide to install ADB

Caution:  We are not going to root or unlock bootloader here, hence warranty will not be VOID. However we are installing other countries ROM, hence you will not get any OTA updates and every time you need to sideload the update manually using this same process without data loss. If you decided to switch back to OREO or official stable Pie version, you can follow this process which requires flashing the ROM.

How to install

1) Using SD Card

Installing One UI Beta using SD card is a simple process hence we recommend this over other one.

  • Download your device’s beta files from the below download section and move it to SD card
  • Now switch off your device
  • Press and hold power button , Volume Up and bixby together till your device boot into recovery mode.
  • You will see the stock recovery screen. Navigate to “Apply update from SD card“. Use volume buttons to navigate. Press Power button to confirm the selection
  • You will see the files in SD card , Select the downloaded file.
  • One UI beta will start installing in your device. It may take some time, so wait till the process completes and boot into all new One UI.

That is it! Your device will boot into One UI without any data loss. VoLTE and google pay and everything will work except Samsung themes as they gave disabled this in Beta version.

2) Using ADB

If you do not have a micro sd card and can’t borrow the same, you need a PC with ADB. Follow this simple guide to install ADB.

  • Download the corresponding Pie rom for your device from the below downloads section.
  • Connect your device to your PC with the standard USB cable
  • Go to the folder where Fast boot is installed.
  • Now press SHIFT key and right-click on an empty space inside the folder and Select ‘Open PowerShell window here’ from the right-click menu that appears. If your PC running on windows 10 the option will “Open command window here”
  • A PowerShell window shall open on your PC.
  • Now execute the following command in the command prompt. This will display the devices that are connected to the PC
    Command
