Lg G7 Thinq with iphone X like notch
Finally LG-G7 thinq is official. This is the flagship from lg, the successor of LG G6.
Let’s have a look at the specs and see will it withstand against the other flagships like Samsung galaxy s9, iPhone X & One plus 6.
As the other flagships lg also have been opted to the notch design which became popular after the IPhone X. Almost pretty much every phone out there comes out with a notch. Practically a notch is the only option right now to hold all the hardware’s and make the display bigger and bezel less.
Lg G7 think, not sure the reason for the weird naming ‘thinq’ May be it have a dedicated artificial intelligence technology just a guess let’s see.
Few images of Lg G7:
Hardware of Lg G7 Thinq:
Talking about the hardware design LG have opted for a true glass design both front and end. To make it support for wireless charging. The both front and back are protected by corning gorilla glass 5 which may avoid scratches but attract large fingerprints.
The entire body is IP68 certified and MIL-STD-810G compliant.
LG have opted to a notch design with quad HD display. LG this time as before relies on LCD panels but this time with a refreshed M+ panels which promises a maximum brightness of 1000nits. This make Lg G7 one of the gorgeous displays out there. LG has given in a pair of microphones, which promise an impressive pickup range of up to 5 meters. The Google Assistant should benefit from the extra range as well.
A dedicated hardware button as well been included for Google now, which is a new feature
Lg G7 has the same pair of 16Mp camera. Where the primary one 71degree field of view and F1.6 which supports OIS, phase detection and laser auto focus.
whereas the secondary module is F1.9 lens with super wide angle of 107-degree.
LG G7 uses AI for low light shots to make it brighter and sharper.
The front cam is an 8MP f/1.9 camera. Hope Lg have worked on the selfie camera where its worse in its latest flagship Lg V30.
Lg retains the 3mm jack which is a welcome move. Lg often gives importance to audio where it has taken to next level in LG G7 with adding Boom Box stereo speaker setup, complete with DTS-X. which can simulate 7.1 surround sound and it’s the first of a kind on a smartphone.
A dedicated hardware button now for google now in LG G7.
Software of LG G7 Thinq:
LG has worked on the OS part as well for its LG G7. Its should have listened to the voice of customer it seems. The custom Operating system which runs on top of android which isn’t the best the bigger icons, the menu, notifications it tried to make it sleep and clean for this year G7.
The notch at the top of the display seems to highly customisable this year. We can even remove the notch using the different type of customizations. We can set up different colours to the Notch as well.As very few commonly used apps have been customized to notch type displays.
Below are the different notch customizations:

What could have been better:
Battery: For a 6.1inch quad hd display, 3000 mAh battery is average. Please note that battery was an issue in the Samsung’s latest flagship S9 and S9+ as well. ( As the OS have been customized real time scenarios may change, let us wait and see)
Camera– Better low light camera and frlnt2facing camera’s aperture could have been better.
When there are multiple options available for the seconday camera , LG chose the least used wide angle camera again just like in LG G6 and LG V30. Looks like LG aren’t analysing the market trend. When the budget mobiles at 10k range is providing Bokeh or Portrait mode as the secondary camera, Flagship users will expect the same with extra features like manual blur option or refocus option which gives DSLR like effect.
